So Mayweather has definitely retired for the last time, the really real
last time with no kidding, after having tied Marciano's amazing record.

So who do you think his next opponent with be? I assume it will likely
be early 2016 because a retirement that only lasts a month would be too
insincere, whereas if it last 3 months it would just be regular
Mayweather insincere.

"My career's over. It's official," he said last night. Sure, the
*boxing* career was over a while ago, and only the *entertainment* or
"money" career has been under way. But now it's totally and completely
"official"...well it will be when he tells the WBA, WBO, WBC and WTF
that he has vacated whichever belts he has lying around.

I'm wondering who will have the *true* last dance with him, though.
"True" not "official". Someone who isn't a threat, certainly. Someone
who has some kind of name but isn't a completel hack. It's a tough
choice, and he can't lay around too long and let all those steroids go
to waste before getting back in shape where he can clinch for 12
rounds... Hey--how about Maidana again! It wouldn't be any good, but
it sure would be funny!

I'm delighted to say I didn't pay a nickel to watch this kabuki play
last night. I could go snooping around for a torrent, but frankly I
don't have any interest in watching it. And me--I watch damn near
anything as long as I have a beer and some peanuts. I like Andre Berto
pretty well, but it sounds like a bore. Another bore...

Good riddance! Or it will be after he gets one more zillion-dollar fight in.

Juan, time will tell. Mayweather makes it look so easy, hit and don't get hit, If his inner bug still says compete, he will compete again.

Maybe Saúl Álvarez will avenge his only loss after Alvarez kicks the
shit right out of Cotto. I'll bet the farm on Alvarez by knock out in 3
rounds or less against Mayweather. Alvarez will "walk" right through
that bum this time unlike the last time.

I think Cotto is ripe to be whupped by a number of people in line. The
fact that he pushed a crippled Sergio Martinez over a number of times
really doesn't mean much.

That's an extravangant fucking bet! Why would you think it would be
any different the second time?

My view is this: Mayweather retires, kills time for a year--maybe even
more. But he stays in shape because he's obsessive that way. Now we
have one or two kingpins with two or three belts each. They can only
make so much money fighting one another.

But wait a minute--Here's comes Mayweather out of retirement for a
jillion dollar opportunity for someone to bust up his record. He's
old, his hands hurt, he's out of shape, finally somebody can take him
down a notch. Everybody wants to piss their money away on it.

Thanks my take.

Juan,

Taking Mayweather "down a notch" sounds good but getting it done is still not in the books no matter who tries it.

I see. Even if he takes a few years off, he'll be forever and always
Mayweather 2015, forever 38 years old, whom no mortal can defeat. That
would certainly surprise me.
