Jake is way up there in age. My very dear friend of 65 years, Buddy O'dell (RIP), fought Jale in April of 1942. The men went the distance. Buddy fondly remember Jakes comment to him after going the distance, "Man! you got big balls." Jake was far more experienced fighter at the time and figured to walk though Buddy with ease.

Both men were near the same age - Buddy a bit older - Jake was 5'8" and Buddy was 5"9" height - near same weight although Jake fought at various weights in a busy long career.

Buddy told me he was able to stay with Jake due to reach. Buddy had an eleven inch reach advantage, Jake at 67" to Buddy's 76". But history is clear: Jake was one tough SOB.

Ah, those memories.

PS: Jake is 94 year old. feeble but still speaks with that Bronx gruff voice.
