What ever became of Lamont Lovelady? He was a brilliant middleweight who never
got a break back in the seventies.

I vaguely remember him. He lost to Hagler and a couple of other good middleweights back then. Guess he just decided to pack it in after those losses. When you use the term "brilliant", are you speaking about his amateur career?
He settled down and became a Firefighter in Des Moines Iowa. His son was killed in bar brawl in 2000 sad story.

I recall a Lamont Lovelady while at the Annie Wittenmeyer Home in Davenport, IA. I wonder if this was the same?

Lamont is a great guy. To this day he still works out every day. You might even catch him on one of his 4:00 am runs. He is a retired Des Moines firefighter and I am proud to call him a brother. He is a strong as an ox but as gentle as a kitten.

Is he still in DSM ? I boxed in a gym on about East 4 and Court with a deaf coach named Ralph Brier in about 71-72, Baker Electric sponsored us. He was the man, tough as nails, but was good to me. What about his cousin, JC Wade ? Still around or __ ??
