The show was stiff and stunted. Rocky appeared like a cartoon. But
what the hell, he was making some money.

As I recall, the show would end with Rocky urging the listener to
"keep punching."

Gleason truly was The Great One. And Two Ton Tony Galento was truly an
obnoxious, abrasive loudmouth.

This true, but he also fought an octopus, a bear and a kangaroo, a feat few boxers or any other
martial artist can claim ;>

Since you're from Australia I would've thought by now you'd have taken
on a kangaroo, an octopus and a (koala) bear!

Galento was best known for scoring a flash knockdown against Joe Louis
in Yankee Stadium. By the mid-50s both men were pro wrestlers.

Advice to Joe Louis: Take him past the fourth round.

Why?

He's yours.

Louis never qorked well against brawlers, a friend told me. I aked
why. He had to work harder!

Amen as to Gleason. Like Benny and Hope, he could keep an interesting
conversation going. Unlike many of today's "stars," they had
something to say.

Anything said here should reflect what one might have said
to someone's face. Tony fought for the HCOTW, you didn't.
